Certified Rodent Diet 5002 was stored at 10 °F (-12 °C), 70 °F (21 °C), and 100 °F (38 °C). Vitamin assays were performed at 0, 3, 6, and 12 months of storage.
As these graphs indicate, the stability of a LabDiet® product is inversely related to storage temperature. Up to six months, the nutritional quality of the diets is quite acceptable when stored at 10 °F (-12 °C) or 70 °F (21 °C), with only moderate vitamin loss in the 70 °F (21 °C) sample. After that time, however, the levels of vitamins decrease more rapidly.
Storage at 100 °F (38 °C) is never recommended and information at that temperature is included for demonstration purposes only. Higher temperatures result in increased vitamin loss.
LabDiet® products should always be stored at 72 °F (22 °C) or less and for not more than six months.
