Formulation Updates

As the industry leader in
laboratory animal nutrition, LabDiet® fully understands the
importance of diet and the role diet can play in providing precise and
repeatable results for your research. We too are a research company. As we
continually expand our knowledge about the ingredients and compositions of our
diets, we are pleased to pass that knowledge on to you when we believe it is
appropriate. Such changes are incorporated without changing the ingredient
hierarchy of our trusted standard LabDiet® products.
As technology and
information about the nutrient requirements of laboratory animals develop,
LabDiet® believes it is our job to ensure our
diets move forward with those advances. For example, an important innovation in
the 1950s was the esterification of vitamins E and A to improve stability.
Prior to that, increased amounts were added to diets to ensure the animals’
minimum requirements were met. Further improvements in the 1990s have been made
through the use of phosphorylation for vitamin C or cross-linked beadlet
formulation for vitamins A and E. With the evolution of both technology and
science, more controlled and tighter bounds may be applied to the nutrient
specifications of our diets while simultaneously increasing stability and
maintaining bioavailability.
We fully understand a major
change to a diet would be a concern to you, which is why we introduce new diets
often; any change to an existing diet is minor. Our objective is to provide
diets that maintain good animal health and contain recommended nutrient levels
that are not deficient or excessive, which could be detrimental. Hence,
occasional and minor updates to our formulas are required. Each spec sheet
located at
www.labdiet.com is dated to indicate the most recent updates. If needed, we
can always provide you with the previously published specifications or you can
contact us directly to inquire about the exact changes made. LabDiet®
offers a team of experienced nutritionists who are readily available to answer
any questions you may have about your diet.
