Advanced Protocol™ Pico-Vac® Rodent Soft Mix is a Constant Nutrition™ diet similar in nutritional composition to LabDiet®
Pico-Vac® Mouse Diet 20 and is designed to be mixed with water and fed to animals that have difficulty eating solid food. The diet provides extra levels of energy needed by animals in stress-type situations. The product is vacuum packed in plastic bags to provide a virtually bacteria-free ration. The vacuum package provides visual confirmation that the seal on the bag is not broken.

Mix diet with about an equal weight of water. The level of water should be adjusted to give the desired consistency. The wet diet can be fed on the cage floor or in a shallow feeder to mice or rats. Although this is a diet containing 9% fat designed for mice, it can also be fed to rats and should be particularly useful in situations where animals are highly stressed. Fresh feed should be provided twice daily. Plenty of fresh water should be available to animals at all times.
Refer to the “Animal Care and Biological Values” section of this manual for detailed feeding directions.
Rats- All rats will eat varying amounts of feed depending on their genetic origin. Larger strains will eat between 15-30 grams per day. Smaller strains will eat between 12-15 grams per day. Feeders in rat cages should be designed to hold two to three days supply of feed at one time.
Mice-Adult mice will eat 4 to 5 grams of pelleted ration daily. Some of the larger strains may eat as much as 8 grams per day per animal.
Hamsters-Adults will eat 10 to 14 grams per day.
